Most of us spend hours at ports and airports waiting to go through stringent security checks, when we cross international borders to go on holiday, visit relatives or start a new job in another country. But the security cannot be blamed as the number of terrorist activities has increased in the past few years. For the safety of the country and the people these security checks are very important.
SAFE OR UNSAFE?
However, there is one group of people for whom this does not apply: “Those with their own yacht or boats.” The owners of these forms of luxury private transport have the wealth and power to bribe local officials, as well as the means to evade customs and security checks. These private yachts are used for smuggling drugs, human trafficking, transporting money to smuggling in of arms n ammunitions without getting detected. This makes the private yachts and boats the perfect accessories in organized crime and terrorism.
THE HUMAN EGO
Some of the owners of these modes of transport could also have the motivation, namely to gratify their personal egos by getting away with it! But the questions comes up that is it right to picture the owner of these yacht this way? Like there are hundred and thousands of yachts and boats which are used by their high profile owners for business, pleasure etc. And picturing them this way is a pretty broad brush, blanket extremely negative characterization of private private yacht owners and travelers. And you may think that is there any solid, empirical evidence or studies to back up these claims? But if u see statistical information is hard to come by in this respect for the reason that the average customs official is hardly going to ask a King of some kingdom, "Have you got any guns, drugs or slaves on your private yacht!"
Yachts - like everything - have their advantages and disadvantages. It is up to us civized people, to safeguard and restrict their use to the best of luxury and benefit. Port authorities all over the world have a huge role to play in the safe use of yachts and in turn the safety of the man on the street.
