Dubai (yacht) - Construction Final Phase

We at Giira Yachts are not quite akin to SCOOPS, but we would like to believe that this particular post is our first ever scoop...

EXCLUSIVE

What we see below is an exclusive latest pic of the Dubai (super-yacht ??!), now the pride possession of Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum (Ruler of Dubai) albeit with a bit of a tainted history of not being successfully completed as the Golden Star, under the initial ownership of Prince Jefri, brother of Sultan of Brunei.

This pic was taken by an avid and passionate photographer, Imre Solt, who was keen on capturing the latest real estate and land construction developments aerially on his photographic frame. While guiding the helicopter into the Jebel Ali port, his eyes fell on the huge US aircraft carrier and close to its gargantuan proportions was a beautiful maiden (the seakind) in white.

A CLOSE LOOK

On a closer look at the pic, when we compare with bare naked eyes, we can conclude that the Dubai superyacht is approximately 3/4ths the size of the huge US aircraft carrier.

Considering this, the earlier claims of Dubai's builders, Lürssen and Blohm & Voss, of having 2 helipads and 6 suites with open balconies aboard does seem a small task.

In the vicinity in between the superyacht and aircraft carrier is a 'floating yard' (in light blue) that seems to be housing construction of 2 smaller yachts or parts of 2 other vessels. These are more like a floating dry dock that are mostly used for construction or repair and maintenance of vessels.

In the pic above, is a model of how the completed yacht would appear and based on that we are rest assured that the superstructure is completed and the yacht is float-worthy.

SEA YOU SOON

The Dubai is currently the largest privately owned motor-yacht and there is no other reported development from any other builder of a large yacht. Hence, it seems that just like its owner, Sheikh Mohammed, the paramount leader of the Gulf, it too remains undisputed in the seas for a long time to come.

Initially built in Holland and then shifted to Jebel Ali for imminent completion, this superyacht of the Sheikh has already come a long way before it will sail in its beautiful entirety in the golden sand-kissed waters of the Persian Gulf (and many a ports of call)...
