Originally named Golden Star and at one stage 'The Platinum' , The Dubai is the largest yacht in the world at 158 metres i.e 525 ft weighing a massive 13,995 tonnes.Dubai is a state owned vessel and belongs to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the Crown prince of Dubai.
The accommodation is designed for 24 guests and consists of the owner’s suite, five VIP suites and six guest suites, all with open balconies.She boasts a fully equipped gym, squash court and swimming pool. A health spa offers every conceivable health and beauty treatment and Doctors and nurses are on duty 24 hours. Electronic security and sophisticated weapons are installed to deter any unwanted guests.
She cost roughly £120 million and had a bit of a shaky start in life as the project had to shelved for a little while due to some issues that needed to be sorted.Currently Dubai is being completed at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai.
The Sheik was also building two identical private islands for himself and his brother at the "Palm Island".Both the islands have a berthing place for a 160 meter long yacht. It will be homeport for motor yacht Dubai as they said that the place was for his 158 meter long yacht which was under construction in Dubai.
