Abramovich is a Russian Jewish oil billionaire and the main owner of private investment company Millhouse Capital, referred to as one of the Russian oligarchs. According to Forbes Magazine, he has a net worth of $18.7 billion.
Abramovich is most famous outside Russia as the owner of Chelsea, an English Premiership football club, and for his wider involvement in European football. Despite his high profile around the world, Abramovich makes virtually no public statements about his activities.
Abramovich had her refitted to his own requirements by Blohm & Voss. This included the addition of a second helicopter pad forward, four new zero-speed stabilisers and modifications to the exhaust, mast and stern.
Pelorus is powered by two 3,600-hp Wärtsilä engines which will do a maximum 19 knots but often cruises between 12 and 14 knots. The interiors are reportedly well appointed but simple. They were designed by Terence Disdale.
She has a number of tenders on board and a garage full of 'toys' including jet skis and wave runners. A full time crew of up to 50 people lives aboard all year long and a large security contingent comes and leaves with the family.
Pelorus will often be found cruising around the Western Med during the summers and commonly ventures down through the Suez for the winters.
